Your domain name is your website’s address on the Internet.  Ideally, your domain name is representative of your business, while being short and easy to spell.  Before purchasing a domain name, consider the following factors:

Easy to Pronounce and Spell

Say the domain name out loud in a sentence, like Visit us at jeffmarksplumbing.com.  Then do the same in a written form.  Make sure it is easy to communicate your web address to potential visitors both verbally and written.

Email Addresses

Determine what email addresses with the domain will look like, i.e. jeff@jeffmarksplumbing.com.  Is this an email people can easily type and understand? When thinking of a domain, avoid using hyphens or numbers. Communicating your email address with a number or hyphen can be difficult.

The shorter the better

Aim for domain names of 6-14 characters. If you can’t find something short, make sure its brandable.
